The annual West Essex Ramblers Centenary walk through Epping Forest will take place this year on Sunday 21 September and everyone is invited!
The walk was establshed in 1978 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Epping Forest Act, which restored lost lands to the forest and dedicated it to public enjoyment.
This year's walk will start at the junction of Capel Road and Forest Drive at 9 am sharp. It is then expected that it will reach the Green Man at Leytonstone at 10 am, the County Motel at Woodford at 11 am and the Butler's Retreat at Chingford at noon. Lunch will be taken at the Owl pub on Lippits Hill at 1.30 and after that the walk will move on via High Beach and the Verders Ride to the Bell Common at Epping.
Walkers can join or leave at any point along the route, which is approximately 16 miles. Anyone requiring more information should call Harry Bitten on 020 8529 8594.
